‘Design without compromise’
Gail’s Bakeries are focused on not compromising what you eat. Their store design focuses equally on design without compromise, with a full focus on sustainable design and materials.
The unique checkerboard counter of their King Street, Manchester store, one of their first outside London, is made with Kenoteq’s magenta
K-BRIQ® which has saved the company 149kg of carbon emissions in the counter alone, compared to if they had used a traditional clay brick in the design.
That’s the equivalent to saving on boiling 24,287 litres of water in a kettle just by making a sustainable material choice in their counter design - that’s at least boiling water for 100,000 cups of coffee!
‘Intrinsic part of the design’
In the making of their food, the company supports small businesses where it can and focuses on innovation. As a small start-up business itself, and one at the forefront of developing innovative, circular building materials, Kenoteq is delighted to have been given the opportunity to collaborate with Gail’s Bakeries and support their ethos and brand early in the K-BRIQs® launch.
Object Space Place, a London-based sustainable interior design practice working in the hospitality industry, sat alongside Kenoteq in the Sustainability category of the Dezeen Awards 2022 and were keen to use the ultra-low carbon K-BRIQ® in one of its projects.
The UK-manufactured K-BRIQ® offers a truly low carbon alternative to traditional clay and concrete bricks and became an intrinsic part of the design of this new Gail’s Bakery.
